August-September
  • Meet your college counselor
  • Turn in your free-lunch application to qualify for fee waivers www.myschoolapps.com
  • Create your Naviance "Colleges I'm Applying To" List
  • Make sure you are apart of the your graduating class Schoology Group (see home page for join code)
  • Register for September and/or October ACT http://www.act.org/
  • Register for October and/or November SAT https://www.collegeboard.org/
  • Inform your parents/guardians that you will need a copy of their 2020 Income Tax Returns to complete your financial aid application (FAFSA or the California Dream Act Application [CADAA])
  • Register for your FSA ID https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm (only for students completing the FAFSA)
  • Submit your financial aid applications:
  • Meet your Academic counselor to check credits, GPA, and college eligibility
  • Retake classes where a “D” or “F” was earned (adult school, community college for certain classes)
  • Attend college visits when representatives are on campus (Class of 2024 Schoology group messages)
  • Complete your Bragsheet (download document on Class of 2024 Schoology Group)
  • Begin asking teachers and counselors/magnet coordinators for letters of recommendation for private colleges. Give at least 3 weeks’ notice for letters! (Thanksgiving break does not count) Please plan accordingly. 
  • Work on & finish Personal Insight Questions for the UCs and any other required college essays
  • Scholarships- Check resource folder on the Class of 2024 Schoology group for Scholarship opportunities and links. Register at https://www.fastweb.com/ and other websites to receive scholarship opportunities,
October
  • Attend the "Thats the Tea" application workshop every Tuesday from 2:30 - 4pm in the College Center. 
  • Finish your personal insight questions for the UCs &  any other required college essays
  • Finish CSU applications https://www2.calstate.edu/apply Deadline for submission of the application is Nov. 30, 2023. PLAN TO SUBMIT A WEEK BEFORE THIS DEADLINE!

  • Check private colleges & university application deadlines (Deadlines will VARY! Know your deadlines!l)
  • Register for the December ACT (check college websites for last testing dates)
  • Register for the November and/or December SAT
  • Register for Subject Tests (if required or recommended)

November

    • You must send through College Board and/or ACT websites

  • Have a College Office representative or a counselor check your UC & CSU applications for accuracy
  • Print out and save copies of all submitted applications.
  • EOP-If you are free/reduce lunch make sure to apply to EOP (if eligible) for CSUshttps://www2.calstate.edu/attend/student-services/eop
    • You will need 2 recommendations from teachers/counselors (ask at least 3 weeks in advanced for recommendations & you will need the recommenders' email)
  • Get letters of recommendation from teachers and counselors for private colleges (give at least 3 weeks’ notice for letters)
  • Apply to community college. Meet with representative and ensure all steps are taken care of to qualify for free community college for two years!
  • Register for Spring Community College classes

December
January
  • Ensure that Mid-Year Reports are completed by counselors/magnet coordinators for private schools
  • Complete the CSS Profile for private universities (check university website for deadlines)
  • Apply to community college, meet with representative and ensure all steps are taken care of to qualify for free community college for two years!
  • Scholarships- Check resource folder on the Class of 2021 Schoology group for Scholarship opportunities and links. Register at https://www.fastweb.com/ and other websites to receive scholarship opportunities.
  • Apply to community college and meet with representative and ensure all steps are taken care of to qualify for free community college for two years!
  • Register for Spring Community College classes
  • Check your emails weekly to check if the universities you applied to need more information
  • If you plan to attend Community College in the fall, apply NOW and complete all steps to get TWO FREE YEARS OF COLLEGE!
  • Stop by the College Center to speak to our Pierce Rep Every Monday from 10:30 am- 1:30 pm and every Wednesday from 9 am - 1:30 pm.
February
  • Apply for scholarships (check schoology resource folder for scholarship opportunities).
  • If you haven’t submitted your FAFSA OR CADAA do it!
  • Make necessary changes on the FAFSA by completing the SAR
  • Complete the CSS Profile for private universities (check websites for deadlines)
  • Check your emails weekly to check if the universities you applied to need more information
March
  • APRIL 2nd - FASFA/CADAA APPLICATIONS ARE DUE (NO EXCEPTIONS!)
  • Apply for scholarships (check Schoology resource folder)
  • Submit all requested financial information to universities and colleges
  • Check your emails weekly to check if the universities you applied to need more information
April
  • Submit “Intent to Register” to selected college by deadlines required (no later than May1st)
  • Submit housing form and deposit for selected university
  • Review all financial aid award letters
  • If you plan to attend community college in the fall, check in with representative to ensure you have completed all steps to get TWO FREE YEARS OF COLLEGE!
  • Register for the Entry Level Writing Requirement for UCs:
May
  • Submit “Intent to Register” to selected college by deadlines required (May 1st)
  • Register for the summer session at a local Community College
  • If you plan to attend community college in fall 2024, apply NOW (you should have already done so). See college reps or college counselor for more information
  • Sign up for Summer Bridge Programs at CSUs and community colleges, if available
  • Submit housing form for selected university
  • Review all financial aid award letters
