The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a standardized test administered by the College Board and cosponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) in the United States. Approximately 3.5 million students take the PSAT/NMSQT each year.
  • The PSAT takes place on a Wednesday, every October.
  • All 10th graders will be taking this exam.

SAT/ACT

Students applying to the UCs and/or CSUs must:
  1. Meet all the A-G course requirements
  2. Take the SAT with writing or the ACT plus writing
  3. For the UCs two SAT subject tests are recommended especially if you plan to major in Engineering, math, or science.
  4. Engineering majors should take SAT Math II and one Science subject test (I advise to take two science subject tests)
  5. All tests must be taken by December in order to be considered for admission.
