UCLA SUMMER SESSIONS

During the summer, UCLA offers advanced high school students two ways to engage in a college experience that will not only challenge but also inspire them.

Students who are ready for college-level courses may enroll in UCLA academic courses , where they will study alongside UCLA and other college students on our beautiful campus or in an online setting. Students may also select one of our Precollege Summer Institutes , which provide an opportunity to experience UCLA’s academic rigor in a more guided environment with their peers.

Thousands of high school students who have joined us in the past regard UCLA Summer Sessions as an invigorating experience academically, culturally, and socially. We invite your students to explore what UCLA has to offer in ways that will jumpstart their undergraduate career.

This year, we will grant approximately 40-50 full and partial scholarships for a total award amount of $100,000 to qualified students who demonstrate both academic merit and financial need.

If you have mature, academically talented students who would benefit from a college-level experience but need financial support to participate in UCLA’s offerings, please encourage them to apply for our Summer Scholar Support program.The minimum eligibility requirements are as follows:
  • Currently attending a high school in the state of California;
  • Have not received any UCLA Summer Scholars Support in the past;
  • Will be a continuing high school student in Fall 2018 (seniors graduating in 2018 are not eligible);
  • Have a family annual adjusted gross income of $115,000 or less; and
  • Enrolled in 2018 UCLA Summer Sessions, either an academic course or an eligible Precollege Summer Institute. Deferred payment of the deposit required for enrollment is available to those who meet additional need-based criteria.
For your convenience, we have put together a reference guide highlighting the opportunities available to high school students. This guide includes a quick glance comparison table to help you and your students choose between academic courses and Precollege Summer Institutes, as well as more details on program options. Please feel free to download for your reference or share with students and families who may be interested in an exciting academic journey with UCLA Summer Sessions.
