Special Education

Reseda Charter High School offers several special education programs to meet the learning needs of students eligible to receive special education supports and services. Programs and services available include:
 
Resource Specialist Program (RSP):
The resource specialist program supports students on the general education curriculum who receive services from the resource specialist teacher either directly in a collaborative basis with the general education classroom teacher and/or in a learning center model.
 
Inclusion Program (RSP/Formerly SDP):
Students formerly in a special day class (separate class setting) are included into the general education classroom/curriculum in core classes utilizing the co-teaching model.  Each core class is taught by a fully credentialed general education teacher and special education teacher with the support of a paraprofessional.  In an inclusive classroom, general education teachers and special education teachers work together to meet the needs of students.
 
Inclusion Program (Alternate Curriculum):
The inclusion program also supports students on the alternate curriculum in general education classes with the support of an inclusion facilitator.
 
Autism Core Program (AUT Core):
The autism core program supports students on the general education curriculum, primarily with an eligibility of autism, in a smaller learning environment for core classes with the addition of a communication skills elective class.  This program is currently only available to 11th and 12th graders as it is being phased into the Inclusion program. 
 
Specific Learning Disability Program (SLD):
The special day program supports students on the general education curriculum in a smaller learning environment for core classes.  This program is currently only available to 11th and 12th graders as it is being phased into the Inclusion program. 
 
Department of Transition Services (DOTS):
The department of transition service teachers coordinate the planning and delivery of transition services for all students with disabilities, beginning in the ninth grade, to prepare them for their post-secondary transition.
 
Designated Instruction and Service (DIS):
Designated Instruction and services are provided to special education students who require support in a particular area such as language and speech, counseling and guidance, occupational therapy, Physical therapy, adaptive physical education, audiology, vision, etc. to enable students to access the educational program.
