I have been teaching in LAUSD since 2023. I graduated from CSUN with my bachelors degree in psychology and gained my single subject teaching credential from CSULA in 2023. 

I have taught in inclusion and EL classroom settings in Title I schools. My goal with any class is to bolster critical thinking, reading, writing, and speaking skills while tailoring the classroom curriculum to student interest and needs. My passion is student engagement; I love to utilize technology, research, small groups, and discussion to get students thinking and interacting.

9th grade English/Humanities

I teach these classes with a coteacher in an inclusion classroom. These courses focus on critical thinking, reading, writing, and speaking skills through the study of four novels, which include any four of the novels below. Students practice reading aloud, auditory processing, note taking, annotation, character/theme analysis, author intention analysis, group discussion, and both short and long form writing.

• "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins (Theme and Essential Questions focused on dystopias and survival)

• "The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green (Theme and Essential Questions focused on fate and love)

• "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare (Theme and Essential Questions focused on fate and love)

• "Dear Martin" by Nic Stone (Theme and Essential Questions focused on civil rights, racism/colorism, and familial bonds)

• "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury (Theme and Essential Questions focused on dystopias, technology, propaganda)

• "The Hobbit" by J.R.R. Tolkien (Theme and Essential Questions focused on the Hero's Journey and change)

7th grade Honors English/Academic Lit

These courses focus on building critical thinking, reading, writing, and speaking skills through a variety of explorative materials and research. Students practice reading aloud, auditory processing, note taking, annotation, character/theme analysis, author intention analysis, group discussion, and both short and long form writing.

12th grade Stephen King/Horror and Suspense Literature

I cowrote the curriculum for this class in 2025. This year long course focuses on theme analysis, genre decoding and dissection, analytical and creative writing, and presentation skills through the study of horror literature. The first semester analyzes the horror genre and dives into gothic and contemporary short stories and their tropes. The second semester analyzes the writing of Stephen King's "The Shining" through note taking, analytical writing, discussion, and creative projects.

12th grade Expository Composition/Modern Literature

This class is taught as a small EL class. I focus the first semester on types of writing, drilling mainly argumentative and college ready writing skills. Students work on expanding academic and descriptive vocabulary through writing and speaking excercises. The second semester follows a novel study on the book "Refugee" by Alan Gratz, hand picked to align with lived student experiences and generate interest. Students focused on their auditory processing and language acquisition while analyzing the literature for common themes, comparisons to modern day news stories, and personal narratives.
